BLURB from Goodreads
The novella centers around the four women who run the Curl Up and Dye hair salon and their relationships with the quirky customers of small-town Blessings, Georgia. Their meddlesome efforts at match-making run awry, but there's always another makeover just around the corner.

INITIAL THOUGHTS
Well I'll admit straight away that I actually read this novella after the main book rather than before as you should do. I still enjoyed it though!

MY REVIEW
I bought this novella from Amazon.co.uk as I had been given the novel that follows it called The Curl Up And Dye to read and review in exchange for my honest review.
My expectations were that this novella would be a setting the scene type of thing for The Curl Up And Dye, and that is exactly what it does. It introduces the twin stylists, Vesta & Vera, that work for the Curl Up And dye's owner Ruby. There's also Mabel Jean, the nail technician too. As most salon's are The Curl Up And Dye is a hive of gossip, everyone knows everyone else's business. This novella literally introduces us the people of a town called Blessings in Georgia. As its set in Georgia there's the dialect and colloquialisms of that area which certainly add to the charm of the novella.
So did I enjoy the novella? I really did enjoy it. It sets the scene well for the book.             Would I recommend reading the novella? Yes as it is packed with fun and humour.
Would I go on to read anymore in this series? As I read the book and novella in the wrong order I have already gone on to read more of the series, and I do hope that there's even more to come. Would I read other work by Sharon Sala? Already have!

ENA'S REVIEW
My daughter bought this novella for us both to read as we were both accepted on Netgalley for the first novel in this potentially great series. So as you'll know from my daughters review she actually read the novella after the book! So I read them in the right order . . .does it make a difference? Well I'd say it does sort of set the scene and tone of the book, it also gives you back ground on some of the characters if you read the novella first. There's more than the one scene in the novella that made me literally "laugh out loud". I loved that the woman whose husband is cheating took out her revenge on his "bit on the side" with a set of clippers in the hair & beauty salon.
The novella being set in a hair & beauty salon made me think far back to the salon my sister had in our mum's front room and all the gossip we used to hear in there. And of course back to when Sandra was manageress of a salon too. One thing that doesn't change in salons is the gossip!
So did I enjoy the novella? I did enjoy it a lot. It sets the scene, tone and imagery well for the book.Would I recommend reading the novella? Yes as it is totally packed with fun and laughs. Would I go on to read anymore in this series? As I read the book and novella in the right order I going on to read more of the series now. Would I read other work by Sharon Sala? I'm about to start "The Curl Up And Dye"

INITIAL THOUGHTS
I totally admit that this is not one of my regular, usual genres, but I fancied a lighter different read so thought I'd give it a go.

MY REVIEW
I received and e-copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
So the novel is set once again with the Curl Up & Dye at it's centre. This time the central character is former "Miss Peachy-Keen Queen" LillyAnn. Lilyann was at one time the most popular female in town with her gorgeous looks and figure. She was dating the local hunk Randy until he enlisted and went away to war in Iraq. Sadly he didn't come back leaving LilyAnn heartbroken and inconsolable. LilyAnn visited his grave every day for years and over those years she let herself go, comfort eating and dressing in drab baggy clothes, never dating anyone else. Then one day she decides enough is enough she wants to put herself "back out there" and step one is to get fit. The Gym owner is a guy she literally grew up with, so she feels okay going into the gym. What LilyAnn doesn't realise is the feelings the Gym Owner has always secretly had for her. Will the "made over" LilyAnn realise? Or will she be swept off her feet by the Randy-look=a-like newcomer in town. Blessings is a small place where people look after their friends.
I enjoyed the light heartedness within the book even though LilyAnn had been touched by tragedy she never lost her kindness to others. Blessings is a little town full of the "good ol' southern charm" and I certainly learnt if a southerner says "Bless Your Heart" what they are really thinking or implying can be the totally opposite! The town of Blessings really does have a bunch of really big characters, who each have their own problems to sort out too.
So did I enjoy the book? Yes, even though it's not necessarily my usual type of genre to read.
Would I recommend the book? Yes I already have and as I am/was writing this review up my mum is starting by reading Color Me Bad.
Would I read another book in this series? Yes, I reckon I would. Though it was a change from my normal genre I did enjoy the change!
Would I read other books by Sharon Sala? Probably, yes. I would certainly check other titles.

ENA'S REVIEW
So Sandra requested this one from Netgalley for me and I was accepted, we then decided to do this double review feature!
So in this novel the character that is mostly concentrated on is LilyAnn she was briefly mentioned in the novella. Basically LilyAnn was engaged to her sweetheart, and "had it all" she was the Pageant Queen so was beautiful and was besotted with her beau.
Sadly Randy joined the army and went to war . . .and never came back. Of course LilyAnn was devastated and would visit Randy's grave every day. LilyAnn never even looked at another guy. So then the years go by and as she no longer had Randy to look pretty for she "let herself go" put on weight, kept the same hairdo etc etc. Then one day a new guy appears in town and doesn't give her a second glance. It's then she decides to get herself back into shape. In fact she decides to get back in shape for herself not just for a guy. It's sad really that LilyAnn doesn't even notice her neighbour Mike who has had feelings for her for many years.
I loved the fun, and humor in the book. You can even imagine Sharon Sala laughing as she writes it.
So did I enjoy the book? Yes, I really devoured it!
Would I recommend the book? I would. I'd go so far as to recommend it if someones feeling down its kind of a "pick me up" a "tonic" to read. It lifts your mood.
Would I read another book in this series? Yes, I certainly would. Maybe we'll meet someone else new to the area or it could centre on one of the other women that visits the salon. Or maybe one of the women that work at "the Curl up and Dye". A perfect name for the salon in the book, it really suits the book.
Would I read other books by Sharon Sala? Definitely!
