THE OTHER LIFE BY SUSANNE WINNACKER

BLURB from Goodreads
3 years, 1 month, 1 week and 6 days since I’d seen daylight. One-fifth of my life. 98,409,602 seconds since the heavy, steel door had fallen shut and sealed us off from the world

Sherry has lived with her family in a sealed bunker since things went wrong up above. But when they run out of food, Sherry and her dad must venture outside. There they find a world of devastation, desolation...and the Weepers: savage, mutant killers.

When Sherry's dad is snatched, she joins forces with gorgeous but troubled Joshua - an Avenger, determined to destroy the Weepers.

But can Sherry keep her family and Joshua safe, when his desire for vengeance threatens them all?

MY REVIEW
This book falls into the Dystopian/Post Apocalyptic genre with a little hint of love and an original take on zombies too. The zombies in this book are known as Weepers as their eyes continually leak/weep a milky white substance similar looking to tears. This book again deals with a theme, where there is the possibility that the government is somehow involved in the whole making and continuation of the disaster.
The dreaded day arrives when Sherry and her family realise they have run out of food, ...someone will have to venture outside where it's unsafe to forage for something for the family to eat. To venture out means they could be killed, but to stay inside also means death, death by starvation! Which is worse? Which would you choose to do?
Well, Sherry and her father venture out, they see awful sights, neighbours dead.....killed by Weepers.
Sherry and her father find a store, but someone else is also in the store. Is it Weepers? Or it could it be someone who could help them?
There's another character in this book called Joshua, you learn his own sad back story as the book moves along and you learn why he is an Avenger. What's an Avenger? ....read the book!
I won't go further into the book plot as it would spoil your own reading of the book. The book is fast paced, and packed with things happening. Susanne draws you into the book and makes you feel part of it. You, as the reader feel like you are in the plot, as though you physically are there. Susanne brings the sights and sounds in the book to life. I love the cover with the butterfly, a thing you think of as flying free, whereas the characters in the book are sadly far from free. Am seriously looking forward to book two in this series.

Available from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk £4.61 in paperback, £4.38 on kindle.
